In the late-1970s, John Demjanjuk, a Ukranian-born, naturalized United States citizen, was put on trial to determine his true identity and his involvement in crimes against humanity as a Nazi guard stationed at Treblinka. Over 40 years later, Netflix's upcoming true crime docu-series, The Devil Next Door, recounts the court proceedings that surrounded Demjanjuk's culpability. 

Demjanjuk was regarded as a "Cleveland grandfather" in the press and by those who knew him, but prosecutors revealed the retired autoworker to be Ivan the Terrible, a horrendously vicious Nazi guard stationed at Treblinka, a concentration camp located in German-occupied Poland.
