You don't technically have to file your taxes until April 15, but there are some valid reasons to file early. For starters, tax software is often cheaper up until the month before tax day because the demand is typically lower. You also don't want to wait until the very last minute and risk your tax software crashing, causing you to miss the deadline. Plus, the sooner you file, the sooner you can get your refund (if you're getting one).
Some people qualify to file their taxes for free, though TurboTax will make it difficult to find its totally free version.
